Understanding the Implications of Chiropractic Care In The Long Run

Long term care is something that top health care services offer, chiropractic care is attaining popularity in that sector. Professionals like Dr. Aaron Richardet knew the implications of chiropractic care in providing pain relief in the long run and have spent their entire life practicing and perfecting this art of healing.

A review of the recently conducted studies have revealed that about 49% to 83% people in the LTC setting have musculoskeletal problems. Even more precisely put, it was found that from a study of a nursing home that the most common patients who were suffering from any kind of musculoskeletal problems were Lower Back Pain patients.

A recently released set of guidelines on low back pain by the American College of Physicians gave the LTC professionals the expert guidance that they needed. According to ACP, non-invasive non-drug treatments like spinal manipulation therapy or SMT, should be tried out first before drug therapies. Patients are constantly choosing non-invasive therapies like manual therapy over surgery or opioids, considering the addiction, side-effects, the risks concerning surgeries etc.

While only 42% of Americans were using chiropractic care in 1997, the number increased to 62% in 2002. The utilization of the treatment among the older generation is estimated anywhere between 30% and 47.8%. A survey of 31,000 adults showed that approximately 14.6% had or are using chiropractic care as a treatment for their lower back pain.

The most common conditions that the survey found to be treated were arthritis and back pain. In total, almost 47% of the osteoarthritis patients who were surveyed had chosen to go with an alternative form of treatment like massage therapy or chiropractic care among other non-prescribed therapies.

Chiropractic care has been gaining acceptance quickly and experts like Dr. Aaron Richardet are constantly contributing to the popularity rise by providing expert health care to the ones who require it. In conclusion, chiropractic care is a safe, effective, and non-invasive form of treatment. It can be used by anyone regardless of the age group, if they are suffering from any kind of musculoskeletal disorders. In the wake of the recent American opioid abuse issue, it is imperative to promote such non-pharmacological form of treatments.
